Assam CM directs police to intensify vigil

Guwahati: After the grenade blast in Tinsukia that killed three children, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the police to beef-up security arrangements further, particularly in view of Republic Day celebrations.

Mr Gogoi has asked the top brass in the police administration to strengthen security following a grenade blast at Digboi in Tinsukia district in which three kids died on January 9 , an official statement said here on Friday.

He has directed the DGP to tighten up security and to launch a vigorous manhunt to nab the culprits behind the incident.

The chief minister also instructed the DGP to take all possible measures to foil the sinister designs of the anti-national forces and to ensure that no such incidents recur in future.

He further directed him to beef up security in the state in view of the forthcoming Republic Day.

Militant groups routinely carry out or attempt subversive activities ahead of national day celebrations in the state. (UNI)
