Complaint monitoring cell

The Returning Officer (RO) of Shella and Sohra Assembly Constituencies has informed that any offer of cash, liquor, gift items or free food to the electors during the election process is bribe. Both the persons offering and accepting such bribes are liable for punishment and imprisonment up to one year with a fine. Flying squads and surveillance teams have been formed to keep watch over such activities during the election process. The RO also appealed to the public to inform such incidents to the complaint monitoring cell set up at Sohra at the toll free number of 1950 or to the office at 235236. Blood donation

The International We Love U Foundation will organise a motivational programme followed by a blood donation camp at NEIGRIHMS hospital on January 23 at 9am.

National pulse polio

The office of the district medical and health officer, East Khasi Hills will conduct the national pulse polio programme, 2013 in the whole district for children under the age of 5. The programme will be conducted in two rounds. The first round will be held on January 21 from 9am to 4pm in the arranged booth to be followed by a house to house search and coverage activity on January 22-23. The second round will be held on February 25 from 9am to 4pm will be followed by a house to house search and coverage activity on February 26-27. All parents are requested to take the children to the arranged booth in their respective locality for vaccination.

Recruitment

The director of the Sainik welfare Meghalaya, has informed that recruitment to the 121 infantry battalion Territorial Army (TA) will be held from March 20-22 at Saharpur Camp, New Alipore, Kolkata. Domicile candidates of all North-Eastern states are eligible to apply.

Office bearers

The general meeting of the KHNAM Umsohsun unit recently elected its new office bearers with Labeitlang Jyrwa as its president, Jeconaiah Nongrum as the vice president, Kyrshanlang Shanpru as the general secretary besides other executive members.

Missing

Ibanshisha Kharumnuid (27), wife of Benedict Dkhar of Madanrting Block-A has been missing since January 4. When last seen, she was wearing a black and brown coloured shawl, black lungi with white stripes and bathroom slippers. She is fair in complexion, about five feet tall with sun burnt marks on both her cheeks.
