TURA: The body of a 54-year-old village elder, who had gone missing from his house on January 20, was found in backyard of his plantation in Siju’s Rongru Asim on Saturday last, a delayed report said on Monday.

The village elder and primary school teacher, Mullard N Sangma, went missing only a day after he got his daughter married off.

A day after the marriage, he had strolled off his house for an evening walk when he went missing. Despite frantic calls on the two mobile handsets which he had with himself there was no answer. Search was conducted far and wide in the village and its nearby areas but without any success.

Six days later his body was found inside his plantation in badly mutilated condition. Police have registered a case of murder and the body has been sent to Baghmara civil hospital for post mortem.
