Annual convention
The Annual Convention of the Khasi Jaintia Christian Endeavour Union will be held at Mawkhar Presbyterian Church from February 1 to 3 and the Sunday’s services will be held at Student’s Field, for which special traffic and parking arrangements have been made. Light vehicles would be allowed to park in the front part of the Mawkhar Presbyterian Church, Mission Compound Ground (Madan Mission), Road side of Jaiaw Pdeng and Mawkhar Main road, Synod College parking lot and compound, compound of Government’s Boys HS School. No-entry would be enforced at Motphran all along the road leading to Mission Compound (except for residents and church goers).
Meeting postponed
The Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association, Shillong has postponed the 18th general body meeting scheduled to be held on January 31 due to the Assembly election. Fresh dates will be notified later.
Seminar
Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board, Shillong will organize a seminar on National Girl Child Day on Jan 29 at Don Bosco Youth Centre.
Office bearers
The general body of the Shillong Agri-Horticulture Society, during its general meeting held recently elected new office bearers for 2012-2014 with JE Massar as president, Dr CS Laloo as vice president and A Dkhar as general secretary, besides others.
New body
The general body of the Meghalaya Agricultural Technical Government Employees Service Association (MATGESA), during its general meeting held recently elected new office bearers for 2013-2015 with T Pyrbot as president, Merill Sangma as vice president and Benteen Kharkongor as general secretary, besides other members.
Election duty
The Office of the District Homeguards Commandant, East Khasi Hills has issued a direction asking all the homeguard volunteers for duty during the ensuing Assembly election. Volunteers have been asked to report for duty on or before February 20 at the said office at Mawdiangdiang during office hours.
Resignation
Leader of the National People’s Party (NPP) also the general secretary in charge of South West Khasi Hills district of the NYF (a youth wing of the NPP), Wellbok Lyngdoh, who is also the publicity secretary of NPP Mawkyrwat block resigned from the party recently along with over one hundred supporters. Lyngdoh has decided to extend his support to Hadrian Lyngdoh, an Independent candidate from Mawkyrwat.
