JOWAI: Congress will sweep Khasi and Jaintia Hills, Member of Pariliament from Shillong Parliamentary Seat said confidently while addressing the Party Public Rally at Shangpung on Saturday.
“I am very sure that Congress will sweep Ribhoi District with 4 seats, East Khasi Hill with 7 seats, West Khasi hills with 5 seats. In Jaintia Hills we are expecting 5 to 6 seats whereas in Garo Hills we are going to win 10 seats”, claimed Pala while addressing the crowd at Shangpung Football Ground Public Rally organized by the Congress Party.
Pala said, “Congress is one of the oldest National Party who focuses on Development, Employment and Finance”. He informed that the government in Meghalaya led by Congress has increased its financial position from 2300 crores to 4000 crores in just three-years after the UDP-NPC coalition government collapsed due to lack of leadership.
Pala said that the Congress Government in the state with the help of the Center has sanctioned over Rs. 150 crores for farmers besides various development schemes including roads communication.
The Shillong Bypass has been pending for more than two decades and now the road project nearly completed.
Similarly, the Nartiang-Nongpoh Road is also pending for several years but now vehicles can ply through the road.
“The Airport at Umroi will soon be an International Standard airport”, said Pala adding that the Railway link from Assam to Garo Hills would soon see the light of the day. He further informed that the government at the centre has spent over 40 crores just to conduct a survey for the widening and improvement of national highways in the State. The Congress Candidate for 3-Raliang seat, Coming One Ymbon addressing the crowd at the Public Rally said, “I am proud to contest the election from Congress Ticket. “I know you will elect me again so that I can complete all pending projects in my Constituency”, Ymbon said.
The meeting chaired by the RBCC President, P. Suchiang was attended by former Rajya Sabha MP, OL Nongtdu, District Congress president, District Mahila Congress president and representatives of MPCC besides local MDCs including KM Lyttan, N. Lamare, Wanbiang Shadap, Rangbah Shnongs and party workers.
