Nongpyndeng, Pyndengrei win WKH b’ball

NONGTOIN: Nongpyndeng and Pyndengrei emerged boys and girls champions, respectively, in the basketball tournament conducted by the West Khasi Hills Basketball Association here.

Nongpyndeng won the trophy in the boys section while Pyndengrei lifted the girls’ trophy.

In a nail-biting finish, Nongpyndeng and the Pyndengrei boys team were drawn at 49 points each in the last quarter.

But with a three-pointer from Nongpyndeng, they claimed victory by 52-49.

The girls of Pyndengrei, however, were able to go all the way in their final, overcoming New Nongstoin rather comfortably, by 52 points to 29.

Michael John K Bani was adjudged as the player of the tournament among the boys, while Balerie K Bani claimed the girls’ award.
