Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has charges of financial discrepancies under the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) Government and said that the NPF party has ‘deliberately flouted all financial propriety and norms and have landed the State with dire financial debt-trap, with the current deficit amounting to more than Rs. 1,500 Crores.
In a press note issued by the NPCC said that the state Government has ‘landed into its own trap’ by failing to release the regular monthly salaries for the month of January 2013 of its employees in almost all the Departments.
While citing the recent incidents where NPF leaders Imkong L. Imchen and Nyemli Phom were caught with Rs. 1.10 crore and 1 crore respectively, the press note alleged that relatives of T. R. Zeliang were caught with Rs 47 Lakhs at Peren by the police. The NPCC stated that these incidents ‘are a big disgrace to the people of Nagaland’ and that it has revealed the corruption of the NPF Government.
It has also urged all law enforcing bodies to not be lenient while enforcing laws pertaining to the Election Code of Conduct.
The NPCC, as per its earlier application submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI), has strongly urged the ECI to immediately expedite the process of disqualifying these NPF candidates in the ensuing poll.
The NPCC has appealed to the electorates to ‘wake up from their slumber and think rationally’ and exercise their votes judiciously for a better Government and a better Nagaland, the release said.
