TURA: Several packages of sedative drugs were seized in a joint operation conducted by the BSF and the State Police in West Garo Hills on Monday.
According to the police, in a drive carried out by Extra Assistant Commissioner, Pittingson R Sangma with the assistance of BSF, drugs including the sedative capsules, Dicy Clomine Hydrochloride worth Rs 19,700, Nitrazepam tablets worth Rs 3,200 and Pentazacine Lactate injections worth Rs 6681 were seized from a place on the bank of Jinjiram river at 5 pm on Monday.
Police said that the consignment of drugs was brought on a boat from somewhere in Assam to Phulbari in West Garo Hills and from there, they were about to be carried by two youths, who were waiting on the river bank on a bike. However, the youths sped away sensing trouble.
It was the BSF personnel, who spotted the consignment on the boat and informed the police about the matter.
