SHILLONG: The yet to be named Congress-led new coalition Government will not have any common minimum programme (CMP) as it will follow the Congress manifesto for governance.

The Congress-led MUA coalition, too, had functioned without any CMP.

Speaking to reporters on Friday at Raj Bhavan after staking claim to form the new Government, Chief Minister designate Dr Mukul Sangma said there are a lot of promises in the Congress manifesto which in itself needs attention.

“We will try to address the issues concerning poverty and backwardness through various programmes which are already listed in the party manifesto,” he said.

Asked about his priorities, Dr Sangma said there is a need to have a holistic approach as far as the issues of addressing militancy is concerned.

“We made a humble beginning in addressing the backwardness of various areas of the State. We also need to accelerate development to address the issues concerning militancy and for this a comprehensive approach is the need of the hour,” Dr Sangma said.
