New Delhi: After several rounds of negotiations and long wait for the hopefuls, the list of Cabinet ministers for the Congress-led government was cleared on Saturday night by the Congress President Sonia Gandhi after Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma met her here.

After the meeting Dr Sangma told The Shillong Times that the new ministry will be a “good blend of old timers and new faces, representing the hopes and aspirations of the people of Meghalaya.”

Without disclosing the names that were cleared by the party high command, Dr Sangma said “all areas and ethnic identities will be represented in the ministry.”

“On Monday there will be elections for the post of Assembly Speaker followed by a formal vote of confidence and the new ministers will take oath on Tuesday,” said the Chief Minister who will reach Shillong on Sunday.

Dr Sangma also met the Governor, Ranjit Sekhar Mooshahary in Meghalaya House, after his meetings with the AICC leaders. The Governor will be back in Shillong before Tuesday.

Most of the hopefuls, including Congress MLAs and supporting Independents aspiring for ministerial berths, will also leave for Shillong on Sunday, party sources said.
