NBCC condemns Ramky negligence in youth’s death

 NONGPOH: The Nongpoh Block Congress Committee on Sunday condemned the negligence on part of Ramky Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, which is carrying out construction of the four-lane project in Ri-Bhoi, for the death of a youth due to careless blasting of boulders at Shangbangla.

The youth, identified as Baniarap Markhap of Kbet Nongbri, was travelling in a vehicle on his way back from Guwahati, when the incident occurred in NH-40. While Markhap died on the spot, his family members had a narrow escape.

The NBCC demanded Ramky Infrastructure to compensate the family of the victim and calling for stern action against those found guilty of the negligence.

“The State Government should take stern action against those workers who were carrying out blasting of boulders along the national highway without preventive measures,” NBCC secretary, Augustine Wahlang said.

Wahlang also reiterated that the implementing agency must carry out preventive measures so that any untoward incidents can be prevented in the future.

He also alleged that since the posting of the new Superintendent of Police CV Reddy, the company officials have neglected the authority of the Dorbar Shnong in case of any incident the National Highway.
