‘Pak elements planted mines in Kashmir’

New Delhi: Pakistani elements planted mines inside Krishna Ghati sector on the Line of Control between November 24 and 26 last year to cause casualities to Indian troops, Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.

‘”Intelligence reports indicate that from time to time Pakistan undertakes offensive actions planting mines on Indian side to cause casualities to Indian troops. In the recent past, it has come to notice that Pakistani elements planted mines on November 24-26, 2012 in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu,” Defence Minister A K Antony said.

The Minister was answering a written query on whether Pakistan Army plants mines in Indian territory to prevent Indian troops from patrolling these areas.

The Krishna Ghati sector was also witness in January to the beheading of an Indian soldier by Pakistani Army regulars who had crossed over to the Indian side.

Lance Naik Hemraj was beheaded while Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh was killed and his body was mutilated.

Antony said all incidents of ceasefire violations are raised with Pakistan through established mechanism of hotlines, flag meetings and Director Generals of Military Operations. (PTI)
