Shillong: In an effort to expose officers to different experiences the State Government has been deploying batches of Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officers for training at the Asia Plateau, Panchgani, in Maharashtra. The Asia Plateau (AP) Centre is run by Initiatives of Change (IofC) formerly called Moral Re-armament.
This time resource persons from Asia Plateau have come to Shillong to train 35 MCS officers on Ethics in Public Service. The team comprising Siddharth Singh, Leena and Suresh Khatri and Peno Angami had a three day session with the officers which concluded on Tuesday, March 12.
At the end of the training a ‘Charter for a Happy Government Servant’ was circulated to the trainees. The cut and thrust of the training is to build a corruption free and militancy free Meghalaya where there is inclusive growth and where shackles of poverty and discrimination are broken….a Meghalaya rich inside out – rich at heart and rich in resources and development.
Talking to this correspondent the trainees said this was a much needed experience as they are enthused to give their best even in adverse circumstances.
Senior IAS officers from across the country attend the trainings held annually at Asia Plateau. Some from Meghalaya who have attended and benefited from the training have recommended it for their junior colleagues in the State Service. The team from IofC had given a similar training to officers in Mizoram as well before coming to Meghalaya.
