Awareness campaign to be held

SHILLONG: The Regional Director of the Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. Haren Doley on Tuesday said that the department will soon launch a free tobacco Shillong awareness campaign.

The assertion came during the concluding event of Health Awareness Campaign, organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura Region on Tuesday.

He added that campaign would be held especially among the student community and general public.

According to him, awareness level and the information access of common people was vital for the success of any welfare scheme initiated by the Government.

Later, Secretary for State Health and Family Welfare K.W Marbaniang while appreciating the activities of DFP said that such programmes will help to reach out to the people in educating them and creating awareness on health issues.
