NONGSTOIN: The Western Youth Federation Nongstoin Circle has served a deadline of one month to the Government to post more staff in the District Transport Officer’s office here in Nongstoin.
After repeated complaints from the people of the district, the WYF on Wednesday paid a visit to the DTO’s office in Nongstoin. During their interaction, they found that there were many paper works that were pending. The delay was mainly due to insufficient staff in the office.
On asking, they found that the office had one MVI, one Enforcement Inspector, one UDA, one LDA, one peon and one chowkidar.
Ribok Shangrit Gen Secy of the WYF said that they had sent many memorandums to the Government for additional staff at Nongstoin but nothing had been done so far. He added that the people faced a lot of problems while pursuing paper works at the office, especially those that came from afar. He also said that the department earned a lot of revenue from the department and hence should cater to the needs of the people.
The WYF members were shocked to see that even the work of the UDA and LDA is being done by the help of Chowkidar and Peons.
