SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the Central and State Governments are taking various steps to improve the road connectivity in the State.
Replying to a query during the debate on the budget, Dr Mukul Sangma said that the Central Government has recently notified for construction of National Highway 127 (B) which is a 362 kilometer road.
According to Sangma, this road will pass through Phulbari and Dhubri and for which a bridge needs to be constructed over Brahmaputra River. “We have approved the proposed alignment and the DPR process is being done,” Sangma told the house here on Friday. While stating that the State Government recently reviewed Government of India’s programme to address road infrastructure in the State, he said that other major roads are also in the offing. He also said that earlier the Government was allocating only Rs 100 plus crore under the SPA for the roads and now more than Rs 400 crores is being sanctioned.
