Panaji: Salgaocar extended their seven-match unbeaten run on Saturday by handing out a 9-0 drubbing to United Sikkim in the 24th round of the I-League.
Salgaocar scored through Josimar de Silva (15th, 60th, 90+1), Gabriel Obatolo (16th), Luciano Saborosa (36th), Francis Fernandes (53rd, 59th) and Marcus Mascarenhas (77th, 90+4). The win takes Salgaocar’s tally to 30 points in ninth place, while Sikkim remain at the bottom with 15.
Meanwhile, in Kolkata, Mohun Bagan moved up to 11th place after scraping past Air India, in 13th spot, 3-2.
Odafa Okolie scored from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, with Tolgay Ozbey doubling the lead in the 28th.
However, the Airmen reduced the margin through Henry Ezeh (38) and equalised in second half stoppage time with a goal from Branco Cardozo.
In the dying seconds, however, the Mariners sprung a surprise, with Denson Devadas putting the ball in to secure three points for the home team. (PTI)
