HYDERABAD: An Afghan national Noyel Yousuf, who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl from Nagaland, was so infuriated after she rejected his proposal that he had wanted to kill her.

Sources informed that Yousuf, a 20-year-old engineering student of the Osmania University, had confessed his obsession with the girl, a post-graduate student of a college in Ramanthapur, during interrogation.

“He asked her to be his girlfriend but she refused. Later, he sent her threatening text messages and called her on her mobile. She did not take his calls,” sources said.

Yousuf also reportedly confessed that he had once attempted to molest her at her residence.

According to the sources, Yousuf went to the victim’s house in Hanumanagar late in the evening on April 10 and picked up her. He took her to his house at Amberpet against her wishes.

Once at home, Yousuf offered her beer which she refused. He tried to force her to have liquor and later, the two had a heated argument for more than two hours. During the altercation, he assaulted her sexually. When she tried to resist, he threatened her.

Later, she made calls to her classmates and informed them of her ordeal and also approached police with her complaint. (Agencies)
