TURA: The tall claims of ANVC-B chairman Rimpu N Marak that his former action commander Norrok X Momin remains with his outfit has been dismissed by none other than the fugitive militant leader himself who has gone on to form the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA).

The newly floated UALA headed by Norrok X Momin, whose real name is Singbirth N Marak, has accused the ANVC-B leadership headed by Rimpu N Marak and military chief Mukosh Marak of aligning with the Rabha Hasong leadership in Assam to merge the Garo inhabited areas into the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council against the wishes of the people.

“The ANVC-B chairman (Rimpu) and commander-in-chief (Mukosh) have signed up to merge the Garo areas with the Rabha Hasong for which they have been assured of Rs 5 crore as reward. It is because of their attempt to sell the rights of the Garos living in Assam that we have formed the UALA to oppose them,” said Norrok in a strongly worded statement against the ANVC-B leadership.

It may be mentioned that ANVC-B chairman Rimpu Marak had claimed in a section of the media that his action commander Norrok remains a part of the outfit despite reports indicating otherwise.

“The news about Norrok X Momin floating a new outfit called the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) is totally false,” Rimpu had stated on Monday.

Norrok who has become the commander-in-chief of UALA, said, “The ANVC-B leadership has betrayed the Garos of Assam and it is because of this that a large group of cadres along with me has abandoned the organization to start our very own called UALA to fight for the cause of the Garos living in Assam.” Intelligence reports indicate that the UALA has a sizeable number of AK rifles and small arms along with hand grenades which they took away from the ANVC-B camps before deserting the outfit.

Norrok is wanted for the daring attack on Williamnagar jail in which two jail officials, Assistant Jailer Neil Warjri and Warder Sarai Singh Thabah were dragged out and shot dead in cold blood by the then action commander of the ANVC-B.
