JOWAI: A newborn baby’s mutilated body was recovered from a garbage dump near Thomas Jones Synod College, Iawmusiang, Jowai, on Tuesday morning after some pedestrians noticed the same.

Immediately, one of the pedestrians informed the Police who took the body to Jowai Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Sources informed that the infant’s body was mutilated as a vehicle had run over it. “The driver mistakenly ran over body as it was dumped along with the garbage,” the sources said.

The recovery of the body has evoked sharp criticism from the general public who condemned the act and termed it as a ‘gruesome murder of the baby by its mother’.
