NONGSTOIN: A team from the Ri-Khasi Channel visited Mawshynrut on Tuesday to distribute relief items to the families affected by the storm that hit West Khasi Hills on April 9.

15 bags of rice, 20 kgs of sugar, 60 blankets, six sacks filled with clothes besides other items which were collected from various areas in Shillong were distributed to the victims.

Leading the team, P Sohklet, chief editor, and L Lyngdoh, co-producer, of the channel met the victims at four relief camps in Mawthylliang, Porla A, Porla B and Banglapluh.

“These items have been donated by well-wishers after a week of the storm. With these, we have been able to help 31 households only. I take this opportunity to appeal to the people of the State to kindly aid the victims. It is indeed painful to see that some of the victims of Porla are still seeking shelter and sleeping inside churches,” Sohklet said.
