SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has been invited to participate in a discussion which would focus on the theme of ‘nation building’ to be held from May 2 to 5 in New Delhi.
He is the only Chief Minister invited from the region.
Apart from Sangma, the discussion would see the participation of two other Chief Ministers including Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
It is learnt that the third Chief Minister who would be part of the discussion is yet to be finalised.
The discussion is part of the 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which will be graced by Union finance minister, P Chidambaram as the chief guest sources added.
Sources on Thursday informed that the panel discussion would be moderated by Indian Express Editor In Chief Shekhar Gupta which would held at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida, NCR, Delhi.
Sources also informed that deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia would also be in the panel.
The topic of discussion will revolve on reform measures in states, transformation process of states and the role of various states of the country in nation building.
ADB holds an Annual Meeting (AM) of its Member Countries around the first Sunday of May every year.
This is normally a four day event comprising seminars, workshops and two days of formal meetings attended by Finance Ministers/their representatives of 67 Member Countries. Besides, Governors of the central banks of around 25 countries will take part in the four-day meeting.
