Assembly official backs out of London trip

SHILLONG: Andrew Simons, Commissioner and Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on Tuesday said that though his name had been cleared by the Ministry of External Affairs to attend a global conference at London, he would not accompany Speaker AT Mondal and the MLAs during the trip.

In response to a news item in this regard, Simons said that only one official from the Assembly Secretariat would be travelling with the Speaker-led delegation.
