SHILLONG: Shillong being a cosmopolitan city where people are more fashion conscious, the grooming sector has lot of scope and in line with this noted hair expert Jaweb Habib is going to start an academy to bring up professionals in this field in Shillong at the newly constructed MUDA building tentatively in July.
Stating that this is one sector which can boost the economic income of an individual in the present age, Habib said that the growing trend of brand and glamour can actually go a long way in turning the young people professionals in this field.
Habib who arrived in Shillong on Monday to conduct a seminar on ‘Hair’ at a city hotel, stressed on the need for interested persons to take this profession seriously stating that, “hair dressing is not only limited to haircuts and salons but it is much more than that.”
When asked whether this will solve the unemployment problem in the State, the hair expert said, “The hair stylist industry has helped revolutionize our outlook today and this industry has immense potential and is a viable career option for the youth.”
“It will take time but it will definitely pay off in the long run,” he added.
Habib, who incorporated Jaweb Habib Hair and Beauty Limited (JHHBL) in 2006, runs a total of 44 academies in 21 states and 2 union territories imparting professional courses on hair treatment and the like. Starting with 37 outlets in 2006, JHHBL has grown to 362 outlets across 80 cities in the country in the last 7 years.
Stating that North East is a fashion-conscious region and definitely not far behind as far as glamour is concerned, Habib said that what is missing is the right education in this field which can go a long way to address the problem of unemployment.
Earlier, Habib spoke at length and at the same time gave tips on hair grooming like permanent blow dry, 3D color technique, advanced coloring and creative highlights and innovative texturizing cut.
“In today’s fast paced life, it is essential to strike a balance. Our hair is our ultimate splendor. We have to take care of it like a child. Simple easy things, such as a daily wash, a few glasses of water and a radiant smile can go a long way,” Habib observed.
