Itanagar: Expressing serious concern of the ‘error’ committed by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHE), the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today deplored the wrong depiction of Arunachal in Geography book for class X.

The Apex student body also came up with a number of demands saying the Education Board should beg apologies from the people of Arunachal Pradesh for hurting their sentiments and urged upon the Arunachal and Maharashtra governments to form a committee in order to reach at a proper solution in this context.

Demanding prevent of publication immediate, AAPSU said that the book should not be distributed to any school of Maharashtra until and unless it is rectified by the authority with consent from the Central government.

Opining on the ‘error’, AAPSU said if in future any ‘encounter’ takes place between the two Asian nations regarding the territory of Arunachal Pradesh, the government of Maharashtra should take the responsibility of the ‘hazard’.

Further, the Union informed that its president Kamta Lapung is likely to meet the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for seeking clarification on the ‘error’.

The Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) has also strongly condemned the reported ignorance of the government of Maharashtra and Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on showing Arunachal Pradesh in the territory of ‘expansionist’ China and not in India in the textbook of Geography for class X.

In this regard, AVP has demanded immediate withdrawal of the books that already have misguided 17 lakhs students of the state of Maharashtra and the authorities should take strict action against the board. (UNI)
