SHILLONG: Almost two weeks after a seven-year-old girl was brutally raped by two unidentified miscreants in a forest in Malki, the victim on Monday made fresh revelations in the case, informing that she had been forcibly taken away by two men from the school premises while she was drinking water from a tap which was situated at the back side of the school.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, the girl, who was recently released from NEIGRIHMS, narrated that the two men were already hiding in the school premises when she had gone to drink water.

“When I was drinking water suddenly two men came from opposite sides, covered my mouth and carried me to the jungle from the back gate of the school,” she said.

After committing the heinous crime, the miscreants carried the girl – her mouth gagged – and dropped her on the road when no one was around.

“I was terrified, I was so much in pain and I couldn’t walk properly. I walked very slowly and didn’t speak to anybody,” the girl added.

“When I reached home there was no one inside the house as my cousins were still in school at that time,” she said, adding, “I took the keys, opened the door and was crying all alone,” she narrated.

She never mentioned a word to her cousins about the incident but she complained of severe stomach ache and it was only in the afternoon that her foster grandmother and her foster father came home and took her to Bethany Hospital.

However, when the child’s health did not show any improvement, the family again took her to Bethany Hospital the next day where detailed tests revealed that she had been raped.

“The concerned doctor reported the matter to the police that very same day. The police took her to NEIGRIHMS where she was admitted the same night,” the foster father said.

However, the FIR was filed two days after the incident (May 10).

The rape incident has sparked widespread anger and protest among the residents of the locality.

Incidentally, police is yet to make any arrest in the case.
