SHILLONG: The control room of MeECL in Tura failed to respond to the desperate calls of Tura residents on Sunday when the electricity went off from 7 pm on Sunday.

A Tura resident W.Momin informed over phone that he tried to contact several times at the control room and the phone numbers were either not reachable or busy.

“We have a feeling that the officials, who man the control room do not want to pick up the phones and this was experienced by many other residents of the town”, Momin added.
