FIR lodged over clash between civilian and army personnel

SHILLONG: A clash broke out between some youth and army personnel at a football ground at 101 area during separate football matches here on Saturday.

According to the police, it was a matter of cross-case and the fight started during a football game when the public started beating the army personnel who later retaliated.

“Some youths playing football in the area, got into a fight with some army personnel, who were also playing the same game but separately in the same ground,” police informed adding that the reason behind the clash is still unknown and the police are still investigating into the matter.

In this connection, one Balajied Dkhar and Palisha Nongkynrih jointly lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS on June 8, alleging some army personnel of taking Donkupar Marbaniang and Binal Syiemiong to their campus and assaulting them.

However, in a counter FIR, Sepoy Jebon Holdar and Naik Surjit Mondal of 101 Area lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on the same day, unidentified youth assaulted Naik Surjit Mondal at 101 Area.

No major injuries were reported from both sides and no arrests have been made in this regard.
