with universities abroad

SHILLONG: Keeping in line with the expansions in higher education standards and the ever increasing need for skilful and competent personnel who can work effectively in an international setting, Assam Don Bosco University has undertaken a number of collaborative ventures with other universities in India and abroad to give its students best of opportunities.
According to a statement issued by the Institute, one of the series of MOUs signed by the University in this regard was with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The MOU is aimed at promoting educational and cultural cooperation in the areas of education, research and exchange between the two universities.
The University started its first student exchange programme by sending its first batch of four students to the University of Arkansas. Being selected from those who completed four semesters of study at Don Bosco University, they were to continue their studies at the University of Arkansas without having to pay the university fees of Arkansas. This project has initiated the University’s dream of materializing student exchange programmes with well-known universities abroad.
Assam Rajiv Gandhi Univ inks MoU with National Law Univ
Guwahati: Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (ARGUCOM) has signed an MoU with Delhi-based National Law University for various exchange programmes and collaborative research work. “The two universities seek to promote exchange of students, faculty and administrative staff for the mutual benefits of both the institutes,” an official statement said. “To carry forward the joint and collaborative works, the two educational centres have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU)”, the statement said. As per the MoU, the association will promote friendship, exchange of students and faculty, collaboration relating to joint research, distinguished visitors as well as educational initiatives towards the goal of innovating and reinvigorating legal and cooperative management education in India, the statement said. 2 kutcha houses burnt, 12 families rendered homeless
Kohima: At least 12 families were rendered homeless as two kutcha houses and a vehicle were gutted while one person sustained injuries in a major fire in PWD colony late Tuesday night. Fire Department sources on Wednesday said that the fire reportedly broke out from one of the rooms in the building, which housed at least 12 families. The actual cause of the fire and exact amount of property lost has not yet been ascertained. (PTI)
NDFB militant apprehended; ammunition recovered
Rangia (Assam): A suspected NDFB militant was apprehended in a joint operation by Assam police and Army on Tuesday. The suspected terrorist, identified as Prabin Boro, was nabbed from Baksa district, army sources said. “The militant was apprehended in a joint operation by Assam Police and the 9 Punjab Regiment of the Army from Bihapara village,” the source said. Two grenades, one pistol, one loaded magazine, two rounds of live cartridge and one motorcycle were recovered from his possession. The source said that he is being interrogated at an Army camp.Altogether three suspected NDFB militants have been arrested so far in this week from the area. (PTI)
20 bus passengers injured in Assam
Rangia: At least 20 bus passengers were injured, five of them seriosly, in an accident at Moranjana in lower Assam’s Kamrup district on Wednesday. The bus travelling from Guwahati towards Nalbari turned turtle on National Highway 31 and fell into a roadside ditch, police sources said. The five seriously wounded were referred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, while the rest were admitted to Rangia First Referal Unit, the sources said. According to eye witness accounts the bus was coming at a high speed when it lost control, turned turtle and fell into the ditch. (PTI)
