Untitled-1 copyA truck which lost control while climbing uphill hit at least six shops and nearly killed a mother and her one-and-a-half-year old daughter in Jowai on Tuesday. Sources informed that the truck was driven dangerously nearly hitting pedestrians along the National Highway from Ialong till MIhmyntdu. The Traffic Police stopped the truck and asked the driver to take the truck to Jowai PS. On the way to the PS, the driver of the coal laden truck lost control while climbing uphill and the truck reversed hitting pan shops located on the approach road to the PS at Iawmusiang. According to police the driver of the vehicle was drunk. The truck was brought to the Jowai Police Station and the SP rushed to the spot to control the mob which had gathered there. (ST)
