New Delhi: The newly-appointed AICC General Secretary in-charge of Meghalaya Luizinho Falerio will visit Meghalaya next week.

During his visit, Falerio will meet the MPCC members and will hold discussions with the party leaders and workers from all sections.

From Shillong Falerio will go to Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

During the visit, Falerio will be accompanied by Dr Vijay Laxmi Sahoo, Secretary in-charge of Meghalaya. The AICC leaders will participate in the executive committee meeting of the MPCC.

Meanwhile, the MPCC president, DD Lapang met Falerio at the AICC office here on Thursday. “It was a courtesy call,” the former Chief Minister said after the meeting.

Lapang also attended the “Thanks Giving Service” for Oscar Fernandes, who was inducted in Union Cabinet recently, held at the famous Free Church. “Oscar is more known in North East than in the rest of the country because of his long association and immense contributions whether in office or out of office,” Lapang said in his welcome speech.

Oscar in his speech recalled his four decade-long association with the region.

Ninong Ering, Minister of Minority Affairs delivered vote of thanks. The hour long meeting started with an opening prayer and concluded with “Benediction”.

Lapang meets Wasnik: Lapang called on another AICC general secretary and former in-charge of Meghalaya Mukul Wasnik. Lapang thanked Wasnik for his support and guidance during the recent Assembly elections wherein the Congress won 29 seats to retain power in the State. (With inputs from our reporter)
