Shillong family still untraced

 SHILLONG: At least six members of a family from Shillong who had gone on a pilgrimage to Kedarnath are yet to be traced.

The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Sanjay Goyal on Saturday informed that the district administration has sought information from the authorities concerned in Dehradun regarding the missing of six members of a family from Shillong.

“I was informed about the incident by a member of the family, Anju Agarwal through an SMS yesterday (Friday) and immediately, we sent a notice to the authorities concerned in Dehradun,” Goyal said.

“The last time we spoke to them over phone was on June 15, the day they reached Kedarnath from Badrinath. We have not been able to communicate with them since, as their cell phones are switched off. We have no idea where they are now and are eagerly waiting for them to call us,” Anju said.

Goyal said the administration still awaiting reports from Dehradun and admitted that the situation in Kedarnath is devastating. The six missing members of the family are- Shigan Agarwal (80), Kasturi Devi Agarwal (70) Satya Narayan Agarwal (58), Hiramani Agarwal (50), Mahabir Prasad Agarwal (47) and Saroj Agarwal (45).

Anju’s husband and brother have reached Dehradun to find out the whereabouts of their missing family members.
