Statistic Day

The National Sample Survey Office (Field Operation Division), Shillong will celebrate the National Statistic Day in collaboration with the directorate of economics and statistics on the theme ‘Labour and Employment statistics’ by organising an inter school debate competition cum awareness programme on June 29 at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah at 10am. Labour Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh will be present as the chief guest.

Sec 144 CrPC

The district magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has promulgated an order under section 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of more than five persons in one place, carrying of lethal weapons and obstruction of vehicular traffic and persons in the whole of West Jaintia Hills district. The order was imposed in view of the three-day night road blockade called by the JSU which starts from 7pm to 5am of June 26-28.

Free camp

The Satsang Vihar, Shillong will celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra at Satsang Vihar on June 30.

Youth awards

Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has invited nominations from individuals and voluntary organizations for recommendation of the national youth awards 2012-13.

Order

The Secretary of Regional Transport Authority, East Khasi Hills district has directed to all local taxi owners and drivers that no excess fare shall be realized from passengers and that they should adhere to the fare. Necessary action would be taken against the owner and driver if they are found violating the order.

Survey

Shillong Municipal Board has informed that the board is undertaking survey of manual scavengers and insanitary toilets within the municipal jurisdiction. The survey has started and it will be completed on August 28.

Programme

The Meghalaya Pensioners Association would organize a programme for planting of trees on June 28 at Sohra.

Training

Rilum Foundation for Sustainable Development in collaboration with Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Ahmedabad will organize a 6-week EDP training on food and fruit processing. Training will be held from July 16 to August 24.
