SHILLONG: Miffed over the action of the Secretariat security staff for not allowing him to enter the State Secretariat, Chokpot MLA Clifford Marak is planning to move the Assembly Privilege Committee.

The Legislator informed that he was not allowed to enter the Secretariat on July 11 by the Security Staff and subsequently lodged a complaint before the Chief Secretary.

“I am contemplating to move the Privilege Committee against the Chief Secretary, who is the head of the administration and I have already discussed the matter with the speaker,” Marak said on Monday.

The security staff even ignored his MLA identity card, he said adding “This Government is run by the bureaucrats and not by the ministers”.

According to Marak, the Secretariat Administration should have had studied all the aspects before coming out with such stringent security measures in the Secretariat.

When contacted, Principal Secretary of Secretariat Administration Department P Naik refused to comment on this.

It is also learnt that a security guard recently asked a senior bureaucrat to produce his identity card while leaving the Secretariat.
