NONGPOH: In a glaring exploitation of consumers in Ri Bhoi District under the very nose of the authorities concerned, shops selling essential commodities in Nongpoh Town have been found in violation of the consumer protection act which stipulates that the shops should compulsorily display the price chart of the various commodities sold in the shops.

A spot inspection of the various shops conducted by the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP), Nongpoh Circle, led by its president Wanbok Suphai and general secretary Kyrshanlang Uriah on Monday afternoon, led to the revelation.

Later, Suphai informed that CoRP has directed all the shops owners to display the price charts within a weeks’ time failing which action would be taken against them.

Earlier, the CoRP leaders had met officials of the State Foods Civil Supplies & Consumers Affairs at the DC’s office to garner information on the rules to be followed by the shops owners.
