NEW DELHI: Shillong will host the next regional conference on tourism which will see participation of not only the eight North East states but also representatives from neighbouring countries.

The decision was taken at the national conference of tourism ministers here on Thursday.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma placed the offer to host the conference which was accepted by all. Appreciating the efforts of the Ministry to hold International Travel Mart in the North East, he hoped that the next ITM will be held in Meghalaya.

CM to return today: Dr Sangma, who arrived here last weekend to attend a meeting on Food Security Ordinance, will be leaving for Shillong on Friday morning. During his stay in the national capital, he attended the plenary of the NEC on Tuesday and tourism ministers’ conference on Thursday. He also held a meeting with the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and other senior Central government officials.
