Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Saturday visited different parts of the Capital city to study the feasibility for stationing the new CRPF battalions promised by the Centre recently.
The Chief Minister is accompanied by capital MLA Techi Kaso, chief councilor, Itanagar, Higio Aruni, DGP, IGP, capital DC and SP and commandant of 138 Bn CRPF.
The Union Home Ministry, on request of the Chief Minister, is ready to deploy one battalion of CRPF for maintenance of law and order in the state immediately provided accommodation facilities are provided by the state government.
Tuki personally surveyed the probable places, where the CRPF battalion can be stationed temporarily with immediate effect and also a place to station the para-military force permanently.
He visited the premises of the 1st AAP Bn headquarters at Chimpu, where a suitable and unused land is available to accommodate at least a company of the CRPF.
However, infrastructure and basic amenities like water and power supply will have to be established. The Chief Minister asked the authorities concerned to go ahead with the proposal for further action by the government.
He then visited the Urban Development complex at Lekhi village that comprises of a three-storied market-complex, a housing complex and an auditorium. While the market and housing complexes are nearing completion, the auditorium is lying unused.
A proposal is under consideration for allotting the complex to the new CRPF battalion on temporary basis till a permanent site is allocated and established.
The Chief Minister also visited the present headquarters of the 138 Bn of CRPF at Senki View, Itanagar. He went around the premises and surveyed availability of space to create infrastructure for stationing at least one more company of CRPF.
The Chief Minister also visited the abandoned daily market-complex at Barapani, Naharlagun and expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the vast complex and market-sheds for want of use and called for an innovative idea to put the public property to proper use immediately. He said that either the complex be used as a daily market or even a weekly market or relocate the Naharlagun Police Station to the site.
After visiting all the places, the Chief Minister has proposed discussions at the highest level to chalk out a suitable road-map and take final decisions. (UNI)
