Untitled-7 copy

As many as 93 ‘outsiders’ were ‘punished’ by the Meghalaya People United Federation (MPUF) for entering into Jaintia Hills district without valid documents. Most of these ‘outsiders’ came with an intent to work in coal mines dotting the district or as construction labourers. The outsiders were taken to the MPUF office in Jowai and on failing to produce valid documents, they were made to hold their ears and do sit-ups. Later all of them were sent back to Assam.
