Conclave to dwell on menace of witchcraft in State

SHILLONG: To solicit people’s views on the recurring incidents of killing, ostracism and other acts that infringe on basic human rights merely due to superstitious beliefs, the Shillong Press Club (SPC) in collaboration with ICARE (Informed Conscious And Responsible Existence) will organise a ‘People’s Conclave’ at the Khasi National Durbar Hall, Mawkhar on the theme ‘The Price of Superstition’ on August 24 at 11 am.

The conclave would be attended by representatives from the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, Lympung ki Seng Kynthei, Synjuk ki Seng Samla Shnong, the Catholic and Presbyterian Church, Seng Khasi, Sein Raij, KSU, FKJGP, Meghalaya Women’s Alliance, CSWO, Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association and MPHRC.

There will also be representation from the district administration, police, individuals and concerned citizens of the State.
