SHILLONG: Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth is a voluntary youth movement which promotes Indian classical music, Indian classical dance, and other aspects of Indian culture.
The movement caught the imagination of the young and began to grow geographically and numerically.
It is a network of over 500 centres in India and abroad. About 5000 events are conducted yearly.
Workshops, essays, exhibitions, films, celebrations of national/local festivals, environment and nature care, study tours to places of cultural importance, quizzes, debates panel discussion and other culture related activities are also organized in schools and colleges.
SPIC MACAY Meghalaya chapter was recently formed in a meeting held at St. Anthony College, Shillong where the Executive Committee and Co-Ordinators were duly selected by the volunteers.
Meghalaya chapter will work forward to have every child of the State the experience, inspiration and mysticism embodied in them for Indian and World heritage.
