Bhaag Milkha… to be screened at Ladakh film fest

The Frontier Gandhi: Badshah Khan, a Torch for Peace will be screened as a part of the Green Carpet Premiere at the second edition of Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) to be held at Leh in Jammu and Kashmir next month.

“We are pleased to have renowned filmmakers like Teri McLuhan (‘The Frontier Gandhi’) and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra (‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’) at the Green Carpet of LIFF this year,” Melwyn Williams Chirayath, founder, LIFF, said in a statement.

While Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a biopic on ace sprinter Milkha Singh, The Frontier Gandhi… tells the story of noted freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan aka Badshah Khan.

The fest will be held Sep 13-15. Its other highlights will include a retrospect on veteran writer-filmmaker Gulzar, curated by the multi-talented Vishal Bhardwaj.

LIFF 2013 will also pay special tributes to legendary film personalities Yash Chopra, Pran and Rituparno Ghosh, who are no more. A panel discussion by women film personalities on the theme – “Role of Women in Cinema – On and Off Screen, Road Ahead” – will also be conducted. Some participants for the panel discussion will include names like Teri McLuhan, Aparna Sen, Meghna Gulzar, Rekha Bhardwaj, Hannah Fisher and Deepti Naval. Carrying forward the focus on women is also a flagship campaign on women called – Campaign Red. (IANS)
