SHILLONG: The North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), Umiam celebrated its 53rd Foundation Day on Sunday and at the same time, dedicated this day to education of children with Special Needs.
NERIE which is a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi aims at working towards bringing about a synthesis between the vast informal resources of learning that are available in the north east region.
Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, NEHU vice chancellor Prof P Shukla lauded the efforts of NCERT for bringing about overall improvement of the school education.
Meanwhile, former Principal of NERIE, Prof DS Bhattacharjee while terming the faculty of NCERT as ‘Educational Scientists’, called upon them to devise appropriate methods and strategies for inclusive education by giving emphasis on teachers’ training and other at all levels of school education.
