SHILLONG: In what could be termed as a pathway for the young artists of the State, Shillong’s very own prominent artist, Raphael Warjri will take the centre stage by organising a one man show art exhibition titled ”Slem thoh dur’ at Guwahati from September 16-21.
The brush stroke from Shillong will create landmark outside the State when Warjri, with his maiden solo art exhibition at Guwahati is set to move another milestone in the boulevard less ventured, encouraging the other artists to follow suit.
Under the title ‘Slem thoh dur’, a one man show art exhibition will be exhibiting an explicit art work by Raphael Warjri at Rabindra Bhawan, state art gallery in Guwahati from September 16 to 21. Another renowned Shillong based artist, Pritpal Singh Shehdev will be inaugurating the solo art exhibition of Warjri on September 16 at Guwahati State art gallery.
When asked about the current scenario in as far as progress of art in the state is concerned, Warjri said that the artist caliber in the State has grown as compared to the previous years. “And I think this is a good opportunity to pave the way for the young artists to organise similar shows to showcase their talents to art lovers all over the world,” he asserted.
When asked regarding the seldom occurrence of such kind of solo art exhibition by an artist from the state, Warjri rued over the lukewarm attitude of the stake-holder in the state in providing a platform for the local potential talents.
“There are no such support systems or concentration in this field either from the stakeholders or the government and this is the very reason why art is not taking its full shape in the state,” he lamented.
The five days solo art exhibition by Warjri will showcase diverse forms of arts, which will includes 16 paintings and 18 creative photos by the same artist. The artist personal interest and expertise in contemporary art forms and mythological imaginative protrusion will dominate the subject of the show.
