Road blockade: Couple harassed

SHILLONG: A couple on their way to Shillong were forced to get down from their car by pro-ILP volunteers when they reached Laitkor soon after the night blockade, called by pro-ILP activist, came into effect on Monday.

When contacted, East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said the incident needs to be verified.

Pelting of stones at vehicles were also reported from some parts of Tura soon after night road blockade came into effect. The night road blockade which came into effect at 8pm will continue till 5am.

Meanwhile, in another incident the District Sericulture, Handloom and Weaving officer, Resubelpara, Rotish Ch Rabha received an injury on his forehead after he was accidently hit in front of Hotel Monsoon, Khyndai Lad late Monday afternoon when two quarrelling youth were throwing stones at each other.

According to police, the youth, who fled from the area shortly after the fight broke out, could not be identified.

Rabha was provided treatment on the spot.
