SHILLONG: In a crack-down on vehicles with tinted glasses, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Monday removed the dark glasses from as many as 39 vehicles plying in and around the city.

An amount of Rs 14600 was realized as fine from these vehicle owners.

In the recent months, STP has removed tinted glasses from a total of 2088 vehicles.

It may be mentioned that the Apex Court had banned the use of tinted glasses beyond permissible limits in vehicles. As per the order, any use of additional material or film on the glass to curtail the Visual Light Transmission (VLT) is banned and heavy fines will be imposed on violators.
