Illegal sand mining on IAF land

New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal on Thursday sought responses of the Centre, UP and Haryana on a plea alleging that sand was being illegally mined from land belonging to IAF in Faridabad and is being sold in Noida and Gautam Budh Nagar districts of UP. A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar issued notices to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority of UP, the two state governments and their authorities concerned as well as the Indian Air Force, seeking their responses by October 28.
