SHILLONG: The permanent campus of CMJ University at Jorabat is likely to open after the Durga Puja holidays.

Indicating this here on Sunday, SP Sharma, legal adviser to CMJ University, said while there would not be any problem to open the permanent campus at Jorabat, the off-campus centre at Laitumkhrah might not have classes following UGC’s ban on running of offshore campuses of private universities.

However, the Laitumkhrah campus will function as the office of university, he added.

The legal adviser said that it was up to the Government and the University to finally decide on the matter related to the opening of university.

The CID, besides making seizure of a computer and receipt books which were located at the room of Chancellor CM Jha, had on Saturday handed over the keys of the Laitumkhrah office of the university to the functionaries on Saturday.

The Deputy Registrar of the University Premlal Rai said that the decision to open the university was left to the Chancellor Jha.
