JOWAI: The recovery of nine cartridges with inscriptions of ILP and Dr Mukul Sangma on them has baffled the State police on Tuesday.

The cartridges (4.5 mm kynoch) including one bullet of Self Loaded Rifle (SLR) were recovered from the compound of Jowai Government Boys Higher Secondary School on early morning.

The Chowkidar of the School was the first to notice the bullets at around 6:30 am. He informed the authority of the school and later the police was informed. In each bullet, there was a message written against the Government. In SLR bullet (7.62 mm), the writing has directly threatened the Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma. Other words written on the bullets were “No ILP no Rest”, ‘Hynniewtrep is our land given to us by our forefathers’ and HNLC(JK) besides others.”

West Jaintia Hills SP Herbert Lyngdoh said that this is basically a work of pro-ILP groups to create fear psychosis in the minds of people.

When asked if there is any HNLC connection to the incident, the SP made it clear that this was not the work of HNLC but of pro-ILP miscreants.

The police have also registered a case in this regard. “We are on the job and the investigation is on,” Lyngdoh said.

However, no one has been arrested in this connection.
