2 KSU members arrested
SHILLONG: The State Police on Thursday arrested two executive members of the KSU’s Mawprem unit in connection with the attack on a trader at Motphran on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Wankerlang Jyrwa (24) and Badonkupar Nongbri, both residents of Lower Mawprem.
Vikash Nandwani, the trader was set afire by miscreants after pouring petrol on him. Nandwani is currently undergoing treatment at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati.
Speaking to The Shillong Times from Guwahati,CMD of Nemcare Hospital Dr Hitesh Baruah said that the victim has suffered fifty per cent burn injuries.
“We are trying our best to save him,” he said.
He also said that the victim could recover in one or two weeks if there is no deep infection in the body.
Meanwhile, police have also identified the miscreants involved in hurling a petrol bomb at a drilling machine truck in the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) campus on Wednesday.
Arrests in this connection are likely to be made in a few days time.
The miscreants had also poured petrol on a labourer Shanbor Hashah, but the latter managed to escape.
