JOWAI: West Jaintia Hills Police recovered a highly decomposed headless body from Myntang River at a place called Myntang Thangmanai.

The body was first spotted on Friday by some villagers who later informed the police. The body was fished out on Saturday.

The body was buried on the spot on the same day after post-mortem examination and other formalities conducted by a doctor from the Laskein Community Health Centre (CHC).

Police informed that the body seemed to belong to some unidentified person from Assam.

“He might have been murdered with his neck separated from his body and with his hand tied with his own shirt,” a senior police officer said, adding, “on searching the body we recovered a registration card of a motor bike bearing registration No AS13C-6824.”
